Apple users experienced widespread service disruptions in the early hours of June 25 as multiple iCloud-based services went down, including Photos, Find My, and iCloud Mail. According to Apple, the services were fully restored by 4:30 AM IST.

What Happened?

According to Apple’s System Status page, the outage began around 12:06 AM IST and affected several key services such as:

  • iCloud Mail
  • iCloud Photos
  • Find My
  • iCloud Account & Sign-In
  • iCloud Web Apps (iCloud.com)

The disruption to the Find My service — used to locate Apple devices or share locations with others — lasted from 12:10 AM to 3:00 AM IST.

Apple acknowledged that “some users were affected” and may have “experienced an issue” with access or functionality, but did not go into technical details.

What Issues Did Users Face?

Reports on Downdetector spiked around 1:15 AM IST, with over 900 user complaints. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 50% reported problems accessing iCloud Mail
  • 26% faced server connection issues
  • 24% encountered file syncing or accessibility problems

Users took to social media and forums to report various glitches, such as:

  • Repeated prompts asking to “sign into account to verify Apple ID”
  • Inability to send or receive emails, often flagged with “sender invalid” errors
  • iCloud data, including photos and mail, not syncing across devices

One user reported: “My iCloud just randomly stopped syncing, and I lost access to photos and mail.”
Another wrote: “I kept getting Apple ID sign-in prompts over and over again.”

What Has Apple Said?

As of now, Apple has not issued a detailed explanation about the root cause of the issue. The company has only stated that the problem affected “some users” and that all services are now operating normally.

The System Status dashboard currently shows green across all services, indicating full recovery. No action is required from users at this time.

Conclusion

While the disruption was brief, it affected a wide range of Apple users globally, raising concerns about reliability, especially for those who rely heavily on iCloud services. As usual, Apple has remained tight-lipped about the specifics but was quick to restore services within a few hours.

If you’re still facing issues, it’s recommended to restart your device or sign out and back into your iCloud account. Otherwise, Apple confirms there’s no ongoing outage as of now.
