Chandigarh / 26th, December.
The professors, scientists, and union representatives of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU), Hisar,
submitted a memorandum to former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja, demanding an investigation into the prevailing corruption at the university.
Allegations include black marketing of seeds and mental harassment of scientists, employees, and students. The mental harassment allegedly led to the death of gold medalist scientist Dr. Divya Phogat.
The delegation called for action against those responsible for the harassment. It is alleged that interference by the government and RSS in university affairs is impacting research and other activities, while members of specific groups are being targeted.
MP Kumari Selja assured the delegation that a fair investigation would be conducted by appealing to the Chief Minister and the Union Education Minister.
In their memorandum, the union representatives of CCS HAU highlighted that the university, once ranked as Asia’s top institution, has been brought to the brink of collapse under the current Vice-Chancellor’s leadership.
They accused the administration of fostering widespread corruption, black marketing of seeds, and incidents of mental harassment of scientists, employees, and students.
Dr. Divya Phogat, a gold medalist scientist at the university, was reportedly repeatedly harassed mentally, denied opportunities to attend international conferences in Mexico and Bangladesh, and subjected to frequent “show-cause” notices.
Her Annual Confidential Reports were intentionally tarnished. These actions led to severe mental distress, ultimately resulting in her death.
MP Kumari Selja assured the delegation that a fair investigation would be conducted and action taken against those found guilty.
